GET TO KNOW VERDE VALLEY COMPOST
Verde Valley Compost was born out of a desire to do better for our environment, and fill a gap in this region where composting services didn’t exist before. What started as a personal compost journey and an experiment of creating the “perfect” compost transformed into this company.
The real question though is why did I start Verde Valley Compost and why is composting important?
Well, the answer is simple - by using our services, you are diverting waste from the landfill, helping to create nutrient dense soil, improving the health of local farms, and in turn, improving the health of our local economy, our local food supply and ultimately our environment.
MEET THE FOUNDER
KELSEY HAMMOND
My journey with compost started when I was an undergraduate at NAU, studying Environmental Engineering. It was through my courses that I became fascinated with the art of turning organic waste from your home, into a product that is not only useful but beneficial to your plants and garden topsoil.
A few years after graduating, my life led me to the Verde Valley and Page Spring Cellars. This is where my curiosity for compost grew. At Page Springs Cellars, I initiated a composting program to process the 170 tons of grape waste produced annually by the winery. Collaborating with local businesses, such as Compost Crowd, Taylor Waste, horse boarders, cow farmers, and the fish hatchery, I developed a nutrient-rich compost that improved soil health in the vineyards and enhanced grape quality. This experience led to the creation of Verde Valley Compost, where I aim to offer a local solution to your composting needs.
I look forward to exchanging your organic waste for compost that you and your plants will love!
